I woke up about 2:30 Tuesday morning and looked outside. There was no snow at that point. I woke up again about 4:30 and snow had started falling. About 9:15 on Tuesday morning this was what I saw outside our backdoor.
This morning AD took the camera outside. This is the drift that is on the backside of our home.
And here is a view of the drift from the other side.
AD got the tractor out and cleared the driveway. Hopefully the road to the highway will be cleared soon!
Mikey stayed in his house (that's in the garage) most of Tuesday. AD kept trying to coax him out but he was snuggled down and warm and he was NOT coming out! ONLY when he ABSOLUTELY had business to take care of would he even stick his nose out the opening.
Today, he's had a great time running in the snow while AD is outside working.
The news reports that the official snowfall is supposed to be 13.5 inches in our area. I wonder how / where it's measured. Of course we have drifts - you've seen that above but at our house, at least, we can see some (dead) grass in places. In fact for some strange reason there was no snow on our driveway and no snow on parts of the sidewalk to the front door. Go figure! Anyway, is there some sort of snow gauge similar to a rain gauge? Just wondering.
For those of you that are dealing with snow right now - stay warm and stay safe!
Wow, I'm not used to seeing that much snow. Love the dog running in the snow! So cute!
ReplyDeleteWOW! You got hit hard. I think it must drift like this and some areas with no snow at all because you are out in the middle of wide open spaces. The last storm we were hit with did the same thing. I was on the second floor and the wind was blowing so hard the top layer of snow was swirling and looked like a white raging river. I love the photo of Mikey running and playing in the snow. Do the little guys go out?
ReplyDeleteStay safe and warm.
Your Friend,
Deborah
It was quite a storm! Stay warm!

Edmond is a total whiteout. I HATE IT ALL! :( I'm from Cali and just can't stand it! I'm trying NOT to complain....BUT...
ReplyDeleteGET HERE SPRING...AND FAST!

We didn't get snow - YET. (I'm hoping never) I have no idea how they can measure, with the wind whipping it around like that, maybe they average it out somehow. That sure is a load of snow though! You guys stay warm yourselves!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! You aren't complaining are you? lol It looks like you guys are doing pretty good for what's on the weather channel around OKC and Tulsa! We don't any networks right now so that's what we've been watching. It cooled down here too and is windy, but dry.
ReplyDeleteStay warm!!!
We are snuggy and warm. Another snow day from school is a good thing. ;)
ReplyDeleteI' m not sure how they are measuring snow either--at depth accumulation or by liquid content. I know we had about 8 inches the night before and this morning our snow looked less. However, there was a couple of inches of ice underneath the snow!
ReplyDeleteStay warm and cozy!
OMG!! What a storm! You know, Mikey melts my heart!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are safe and sound and have that groovy tractor! I would not love that much snow at all. But gosh Mikey is having a good ol' time!
ReplyDeleteWow, you guys sure did get your share of snow. We dodged the bullet and only got icy rain, then just plain ol' rain. Fix yourself a cup of hot chocolate and curl up with a good book :)
ReplyDeleteDrifts are bad here in Norman but we faired better than the Tulsa area. finally have a path in the backyard for the dog to go out. She really couldn't figure out why she would go out in the front yard to do her business.
ReplyDeletethat looks like a lot of snow! Hope you stocked up on bread and milk!
ReplyDeleteLook at that SKY!!! Oh, I miss Tulsa.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, they say Bartlesville got 8" but I don't know how they would've measured that. We had drifts waist-high and then places where the ground was swept clean. We weren't so lucky as you with our driveway.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing your views!!! and wondered how much you'd gotten.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful when it's falling and for a day or so, but then it's time to get gone.
ReplyDeleteYep, both my school and Jonathon's were already called off, when I looked out at 3 am and there was nothing I thought geez I hope we aren't burning a snow day for nothing! Then wow! Here it came!
