Early this morning, around 6:20am, a Chevy Avalanche carrying 8 people ran off a bridge near Miami, Oklahoma and plunged 80 feet into the icy river below. You can read about it here: http://www.newson6.com/Global/story.asp?S=13962302
At this writing the news reports that 3 of those who were involved in the crash have died.
The news channel I generally watch was able to show live footage as the rescue team and divers worked in the frigid temperatures.
Those folks are true heroes in my book.
They're heroes in my book too. Every day these men and women (police, firefighters, rescue teams, etc) put their lives at risk to help/save others. We should all remember them and their families in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the comments that were left on that link.
Your Friend,
Deborah
I just read that story, hoping my family wasn't involved. I'm grateful to report they are all safe and saddened that this tragedy is striking other families.
ReplyDeleteTrue hero's indeed!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've seen this on the news as well. One of my biggest fears is going off a road and into water. My thoughts and prayers are with them.
ReplyDeleteAmen, I'm waiting for the press conference. Stay safe and warm.
ReplyDeleteYes, true heros. What a shame, what happened. I'm so sad for the family.
ReplyDeleteI thank God everyday that there are people out there that will help others and have the skills to do so.
ReplyDeleteTrue Heroes! Saddened by the fact that they had this accident in the first place. I really feel for the families of the victims!
ReplyDeleteThese situations are never good, but the way this happened is terrible. Blessings to all those families and the rescue folks.
ReplyDeleteI was so upset watching the live report I had to turn away because I was afraid of what I might see. So glad Leanne Taylor asked the camera man to pull back on the shot. Thankful some people were able to be saved. Hats off to the brave first response workers.
ReplyDeleteOh, how very horribly horrific. Yes, these heroes truly earn their wings!!! This storm is taking it's toll all over our nation. I know we were hit head on.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you sweetie and stay safe and warm. :o)
Oh that is so sad :( I am sorry to hear that happened to those poor people. Rescue workers are true heros who are more times than not under appreciated and under paid!!
ReplyDelete...and I just spelled heroes wrong :(
ReplyDeleteTruly remarkable people that we too often take for granted. Sorry for the loss of life but so, so thankful for those who risk everything to help their fellow humans.
ReplyDeleteOK Granny. I'm so saddened to hear this story. Just read our latest posts, you and AD please be careful.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree...I am amazed at times the length people go to help others. They certtainly have wings.
ReplyDeleteOh my God in Heaven. I'm almost in tears thinking about that poor family. Yes the ones who responded...heros indeed. Angels is what I think of them. Hope you will stay in and be warm and safe. XXXMollye
ReplyDeleteYes indeed - heroes.
ReplyDeleteThat is just incredibly sad.
Watched it all morning long. Just broke my heart. Those rescuers were awesome!
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing as I watched the news.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sad story. All rescue people, firemen, police, paramedics, deserve our greatest respect and gratitude.
yes, I agree also! With sports stars and movie stars making multiple millions each year, all I think is what about the rescue workers who risk their lives every day? Somethings are terribly backwards in our society!
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon, Carol,
ReplyDeleteThis must have been a horrible experience for all involved. I'll keep all families in my thoughts and prayers.
Take care ~Natalie
I read about that and wow, you are right, the heroes are everyday workers who help because it is the right thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are doing okay...
So sad!
ReplyDeleteThank God for those that are running in when everyone else is running out!!
