My friend, Kristin, and I have gone a couple of times and it's always a lot of fun.
While it is promoted as a kitchen tour sometimes you are able see other parts of the homes. Last year I saw something in the garage of one of the homes that I just knew AD would love to have. He should have gone with me.
I told him about the new fangled contraption I'd seen and then we did some research online. AD talked to our contractor to see if he knew anything about the contraption. Dan said that one of his customers had recently decided to add one to their new home and it was a first for him too.
When we went to the Home & Garden Show a couple of weekends ago there was a company that had them on display. AD talked to the salesman about it and we decided to have one put in.
This is our garage (and there's Mikey's dog house sitting by the door.)

The workmen arrived about 1:10 Friday afternoon and set up to do the work.
They had to go into the attic too.
Can you tell what it is?
Have you ever seen one?
It's like an elevator (NO RIDERS ALLOWED) that lifts various items up into the attic for storage.
This is the smaller model and can lift 200 pounds according to the paperwork but the salesman (who was also one of the installers) said it really can hold a little more weight than that.
AD and I wish we'd had one of these years ago!
The installation only took about 3 hours or so.
This is what the garage ceiling looks like now.
Here's a view from inside the attic.
And another view so you can see the railing they installed by the attic ladder. The railing is an option that's available but they gave it to us since we bought the lift during the Home & Garden Show.
We think it's just about one of the handiest tools we've bought in awhile.
Now we can move some of my things into the attic that have been stored in AD's shop. He's really gonna love having more room in his shop for his guy stuff.
Neat-o!
ReplyDeleteCool Beans...Dude!!
ReplyDeleteThis is way too cool. DO NOT let Bob see this.

This is really neat! I bet my Hubby would love to have one too in our garage! I'll have to show him yours! It sure would be a great big help for sure!

Wow, I had no idea anything like that existed! I'll bet it was invented by a frustrated wife. If I had more attic headroom over my garage, I'd be calling to have one installed ASAP!
ReplyDeletethat is a great idea! I bet my husband would love one too!
ReplyDeleteWell I'll be darn! I really like this contraption.
ReplyDeleteJerri
I would love to have one of these since I am the one that has to put things in the attic and take them out. The hubs won't do it. May have to look into that.
ReplyDeleteThat's neat. I wish there was something like that that would bring groceries in from the car.
ReplyDeleteThat is really awesome!
ReplyDeleteYour contraption has got it going on!
ReplyDeleteNo more lugging things to the attic.
Enjoy.
Sweet dreams.
OMG!! That is the smartest thing I have ever seen! You should see us just trying to get the Christmas tree box up and down!
ReplyDeleteI HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A SPOTLESS GARAGE...WE HAVE A ONE CAR GARAGE AND WE CANNOT GET A CAR INTO IT FOR SAWS AND MOWERS AND BOXES...I'LL HAVE TO SHOW HIM THAT NEAT ELEVATOR AS HE CAN LIFT NOTHING OVER 15 POUNDS THE REST OF HIS LIFE.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE, LOVE, THE HEADER OF YOUR BLOG. IT IS JUST ME....I LOVE IT...I THINK WE PROBABLY HAVE ALOT OF THE SAME LIKES.
HUGS AND BLESSINGS

ReplyDeleteI have never seen one of those contraption, but if I had a garage you can bet I'd have one installed.

I also loved your little guys looking out the door in the earlier post. It was so cute. My Maxwell does not like snow either.

How cool it that! I'd love one. I'm putting that on the birthday wish list. I also agree with one of your other followers - what a clean garage.
ReplyDeleteWow this is a great invention! I would love to install it in my bedroom and just ride up every night!

ReplyDeleteWOW, that is a handy little thing to have. I bet ya'll do wish you had it long ago. I wish I had a nice big attic for storage but don't, if I did I would copy you and get me one of these. Enjoy rearranging and storing, this will be part of your spring cleaning!
ReplyDeleteNever knew anything like that existed...never..but great invention!
