Weekend In Review

This weekend was pretty laid back here on the home front.

I went to a scrapbook crop on Friday from 10 am to midnight. Grand total of pages completed in that time period - 8. It was a fun time to just kick back and enjoy creating pages along with others who share the same hobby.

Saturday AD and I drove into town and went to see the "A Team" movie. It was one he'd been wanting to see.

We also dog-sat for 3 of our daughter's dogs while she and her family took the opportunity to go on a float trip down the Elk river in Missouri. They seldom have an open weekend in the summer due to the boys' racing schedule.

E (in Elliott's bed) and Hollie stayed indoors and their outside dog, Tracker, kept Mikey company outdoors.

Note that E is in Elliot's bed. I'm not sure how he was able to fit himself in it comfortably, but he liked laying there.

Sunday morning we went to church and came right home afterward.

The only thing I really wanted to accomplish on Sunday was to take everything out of this old bookshelf which I did, before thinking that I should have taken a photo,

moving this set of shelves in to replace it

and then put everything back.

There were these scrapbooks

and all the scrapbooks on the bed, along with some of my other favorite things.

It all came together just as I envisioned.

Today I'll be working some more on the room I use when I scrapbook at home. Maybe I'll have pictures of that re-do sometime later this week. Here's hoping!

  3. It sounds like you had a full weekend. I like your new shelf...are you going to use the old one for storage somewhere else? We have packed so much furniture into our house now, with all my mom's things too...I'm not sure we have room for one more piece!! lol

    Have a marvelous Monday. ~Natalie

  4. Good Morning Sweetie...
It looks like between organizing and babysitting you have a really busy weekend. The grand dogs are as sweet as they can be. Love their little faces.

Now the shelf you replaced is just beautiful. I can see why you are pleased. It held all your scrapbooks so nicely and my gosh what beautiful accessories you have there. I see you too are a lover of Mickey. Isn't he just the sweetest thing ever? Some things we just never outgrow. Love your dolls too. They are just so beautiful. Love their little faces most of all.

Hope you have a beautiful Monday sweetie. Country hugs, Sherry

  6. I enjoy scrapbooking, too, mainly making scrapbooks for each grandbaby's first year of life. However, I am way behind on Sailor's book. She was two months old when she moved in with us and there hasn't been time or space to do any scrapbooking. On the up side, I have tons of pictures to put in it when I finally get time to finish it. I have plans to do a lot of things when the "kids" move!

  7. You're so smart. Great job of reorganizing. I think I'm a borderline hoarder.

  8. It's wonderful to have all your memories creatively documented in scrapbooks and displayed where they are easily accessible to all that want to see. What better way to honor treasured memories? So much better than stuffed in a box, deep in a closet or on a computer's hard drive.

    Your Friend,
    Deborah

  12. There's nothing better than spending the day relaxing and doing something that you really enjoy like scrap booking, 'you crazy fool' I saw the A-team movie last week and surprisingly quite enjoyed it, as a child of the 80's I still prefer George Peppard and MrT haha.
10 out of 10 on your shelving work, oh and I must thank you for your recent comment on my blog, I think it has to go down as the best comment I've ever received.
    Thank you.

  13. Amazing how just a small change can liven up a room so much. Like the new shelf!! Scrapbooking is not something I took up because I am just not very artistic (I can't measure a straight line and then cut on it) but I enjoy looking at other peoples' efforts. Did you happen to see Weaver's poem using word recognition words. Very cute. Mine happens to be "cadsoc" has all sorts of potential.

  14. Amazing how a simple change in furniture can really liven up a room. Shelf looks great. I've not taken up the scrap book thing because I am not artistically inclined, but I enjoy looking at others' efforts.

  15. Ryan, You just can't improve much on George Peppard and Mr T but we did enjoy the movie.

  16. Leilani, I didn't see the poem. I'll have to see if I can find it.

  20. The shelf looks great. And I notice that Elizabeth is prominently displayed!

I really admire people who scrapbook. It's a lot of work, but it's a hobby that produces a lot of treasures.

  21. I like that new shelf!
    Much prettier than the old.
I have a new book shelf I just bought for my son's room.
He's a teen now and we need to get rid of all that kid stuff. He's fighting me tooth and nail. Not that he doesn't want to grow up, but a lot things have special meaning. So I bought his some tubs to put his special things in storage.

  25. Well the new shelf just looks great. Oh how I wish I could get motivated again with my scrapbooking. I'm so behind so I know that it'll be near impossible to play catchup. I'm glad you had both a fun and productive wknd.

  27. Love the new shelf, it's really nice. Is it vintage or new? Either way, it's a keeper as they say...

Glad to hear you had fun scrapbooking with a few friends. Eight pages is pretty good! Hugs - Julie

  28. Julie, The shelf is new. I bought in Oklahoma City at Hobby Lobby for 66% off. It was a distrssed cream color so I bought some Krylon Brown Leather spray paint and some black spray paint. My husband is the master painter and worked his magic. I think it kind of resembles an old iron bed. I would have liked to have one for another room in the house so I've been to several more HL's but haven't found one yet (probably due to the sale!). I have one more store to try. Maybe I'll luck out.

  29. I think scrapbooking would be fun. I've never tried it and I think now I wouldn't be able to afford it. My girls made me a beautiful album when I turned 50. I heard them say they picked up most of the pieces at the dollar stores. You'd never know it because the look was very professional.

The dogs are beautiful! You're a good 'Granny'! :=)

  31. The dog baby sitting sounds like fun. I think?

  32. Hi Granny,
I see you are keeping busy! We are in Door County, Wi. I haven't had wifi too much on this trip so I'm catching up on my blogs! Tomorrow we leave for the UP of Michigan, where we've been before and I doubt I'll have much up there... :o( I do miss it! The trip is not too eventful so far so nothing really to blog about. Maybe a few pictures if I ever get a chance!

Some good news. My son graduated from photography school and got a great job in North Carolina that he loves!!! I felt you praying for him so I wanted you to know! And Thank You!!!

  34. I agree with you on the temps this summer... they've been abominable, haven't they?! And yes, my red pickle recipe uses pickling lime. We couldn't find it anywhere either, and hubby ended up ordering it through Amazon, paid a small fortune for 2 bags. I recently saw it on Ace Hardware's website, in their canning section (Mrs. Wages Pickling Lime), and it said you can have anything on their website sent from the Ace warehouse and have it at your local Ace store in 5-7 days, free of shipping charges.... so you might want to look into that!
