Scrapbooking Wednesdays

Over the summer months, the closest scrapbook store to my house (roughly 21 miles away) has been hosting crops every Wednesday from 10am to 6pm.

If you attend the crop there has been a modest fee of $2 and everyone is asked to bring a snack to share with the group. That's a pretty sweet deal in itself. However the owner generously gives each attendee a small gift in the $2 range so the crop is basically free.

Plus she supplies water, pop and chocolate. And each attendee gets 15% off their (regular priced) purchase that day. WOW! Talk about a fantastic deal!

So that's what I've been doing most Wednesdays this summer.

Another activity that the store sponsors is a monthly layout contest. The store's customers vote on their favorite layout during the month, then the winner is announced and receives a small prize. This month I was the winner! WOO WEE! I was totally flattered.

Unfortunately I don't have a photo of my winning page. It's still on display at the store.

I can give you a peek at the layout I submitted for August though. I know I'm a little early in entering but Son had emailed me some pictures I'd requested and I couldn't wait to put the page together.

So I used the following 4 pictures with the title of " 'Girlie's name' found her Prince Charming and his name is Daddy."

Here's what the page looks like all put together. Although you probably can't see it, there's lots of glitter all over the page. For those of you who scrapbook - I think you might call me the queen of Stickles. I just can't get enough of that product!

Friday there's a scrapbooking convention in Tulsa. Guess where I'll be . . .

  1. OH Granny,
That is just awesome! I love how you put the four photo's together and added the embellishments! You are truly very talented! I wish we lived closer together so we could scrap (when we're home!). I don't have anyone to do it with, thus, don't do it! I have lots of stuff tho! I hope you win with that page and Congratulations on the win for July!!! Can't wait to see it!

  2. Sounds like fun. I love the pics of your son and granddaughter. Our oldest son and his wife have two girls. He is just as doting as it looks like your son is.

  7. That is awesome you won the layout for the month. This one is a winner also. What a cute picture to remember daddy. I so need to clean up my craft room. I am so behind in the scrapbook and card making department.

  9. That is totally awesome. Congratulations on the win. Hope you post it when you get it back from the shop.
While the whole get together and do something constructive thing sounds like a blast, I am hopelessly untalented when it comes to scrapbooking. And lazy too, I might add. I just cannot seem to make enough time to do everything I am supposed to do and then have time to blog and all that, too.
I hope you have a great time in Tulsa. Please be careful in your travels and we'll see you on your next post.

  10. Scrapbooking seems kind of fun. Its almost like tangible blogging but you don't have to worry about the server going out.

  14. Great design! Of course, the pictures and the subject matter are terrific, too. Nothing sweeter than a little girl and her daddy.

I can't wait to retire and participate in these kinds of things. I live too far away from anything to do evening events.

  16. OH WOW!!! That is amazing!!! You are so good at that! My pictures are a horrendous MESS. I really need to organize them. I am hoping to someday make scrapbooks for each of my kids. I break out in hives thinking about all the pictures stuffed in boxes.. and boxes.. and boxes.

  20. Oh how I need to drag that scrapbooking stuff out and catch up! I've been told by others not to try to catch up, it's too frustrating.
You have a beautiful page here, I love your scrapbooking! That was a great deal they offered.
The closest city to us (about 30 miles) had a small personal scrapbook store but it went out of business. They do have a HobbyLobby and Michaels for supplies though so I'm not without sources. I'm so glad you had fun & scrapbooked a lot.

  21. Oh Sweetie...
That is just beautiful. I love this precious page of love, with princess and her Daddy. PRICELESS. Yes, just priceless. He looks so sweet with bowing down to her. Such love.

You did a great job. I wish we lived closer and could meet. I will be coming to Enid in November to visit my folks. Are you anywhere near close to Enid? I sure would love to meet you. I notice that you said a convention was coming to Tulsa, so you must be closer to Tulsa.

Well sweetie, many hugs and much love to you. Can't wait to see what you created at the convention or bought from the displays.

Many hugs and much love, Sherry
