Enjoying the Weather and More

The weather has been beautiful here the last couple of days. I am so enjoying the cooler weather!

A couple of days ago AD and I were headed into town. As we were pulling out of the driveway I wished I had my camera with me because the sun behind the fog was gorgeous. I didn't say anything though. Then when we were about out the gate AD remembered he'd left his cell phone laying in the house.

Since he was going back to get it I told him to grab my camera too. I'm glad he forgot to pick up his phone or I wouldn't have this photo.

One of the reasons he needed his phone was because our contract was up and we'd decided when that happened we'd get with technology and add texting and the internet to our plan. We were going to get new phones while we were in town. This is my new phone.

With the new phone in hand I sent a text to Son, Daughter and G1 just saying, "What do you think?" It only took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to do that. LOL!

Within a couple of minutes I was at the dentist's office when my phone rang. I was there to get a temporary crown put on. Daughter had called to say she'd just got a text from me. I laughed and told her we'd gotten new phones and a package with texting. She was relieved because she thought G1 might have gotten ahold of my phone somehow and texted her with it.

By then the hygienist had her hands in my mouth and my phone was going off like crazy with text messages coming in. One came from G1 saying something like, "So you're getting with technology now!" and a couple from Son, one warning G1 and/or G2 that if they were playing with Granny's cell phone she was not going to be happy.

I really never thought I needed text messaging or the internet but in the few days I've had my new phone I've found that it's pretty convenient.

And I promise not to text and try to drive at the same time.

  2. I'm not a super-texter like the young folks, but I do send messages to my children from time to time. I haven't given in to a phone with e-mail yet. I'm afraid if I do I will be on it all the time. It's beautiful weather here, too! Enjoy the weekend.

  3. I've grown more and more dependent upon my internet and email access on my phone, and I was the one who scoffed at the foolishness! ha! It all came back to haunt me. I'm pretty well hooked now!

  4. Oh Sweetie...
What a gorgeous photo of the sun peering through the fog. Just priceless isn't it? A good thing you had to go back for the phone, thus allowing you access to your camera. Just a gorgeous share.

Oh congratulations. You can text? I don't have texting and I keep telling myself I don't want it either. I have enough to keep me busy. The grands and the kids all have it though.

Have a great weekend sweetie. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  5. I tended to try to shy away from all that technology. After all, I'm not important enough to use texting or search the internet on my PHONE, right? Wrong, i love the convenience of both of these. Congrats on the new phone.

  7. Beautiful picture! It has cooled down up here, too. Oh! what a relief. I was just sweltering.

I have blocked texting on my phone. I just don't want to do it. My hubby wouldn't text (fingers are too thick;) and daughter doesn't have a phone (not YET!). Anyone else can call me or send an email!

  8. I've been forced to learn texting as I get people who text ME. I don't have a text plan so it costs me.

Yes, I've been enjoying the little cooler weather here. Not fall yet but I can tell it's coming.

  11. beautiful weather here in Alabama! Texting does come in handy sometimes, but I only text my younger daughter when she is working and can't talk on the phone and she texts me at least once a day. I even figured out the predictive texting thing but it was hard to get used to!

  12. Congratulations on learning to text. I really don't want to know because some of my friends never speak to their grown children anymore. This way I can just tell the daughters I don't know how!

  13. Well congrats to you, and you're way ahead of me. I still just talk, but with matt texting all the time it is beginning to appeal to me. The picture of the morning sky is beautiful too.

    Love the pic, too!
I have texting and internet on my phone. Love it. I can keep in touch with everyone, anytime.
I also love the fact that I can get my emails sent to my phone. So anytime someone comments on the blog or Facebook, I get a message. I love being connected and seeing what everyone's up to. I have a Blackberry and it will receive up to 9 email accounts.

  17. Thought I'd reply here about the dog-gate question.

Mine don't screw into the walls. They are adjustable width and have rubber bumpers on the ends. Works for many different size openings and NO HOLES! yea!

  18. We have a good package for texting, but last summer I accidently turned on the t.v. part of my phone and it ran in my purse for almost 30 minutes before I discovered where the noise was coming from! Boy was that a costly lesson! And while we were in Nashville two years ago, I went online using my phone to order Opry tickets. That little hour added a whopping $30 to our phone bill, LOL. I'm just texting, no more t.v. or online anything! My phone isn't even a fancy one, but it does has capabilities I don't want to pay for!

  20. Good for you Granny (re leaning how to do text messaging) I have yet to send one. We used to see these sorts of weather scenes where I grew up when the fog came in off the ocean just enough so the sun was like an orange ball hoverng above the water. So beautiful. Thanks for sharing that.

  24. Hi Debby,

I only started texting in the last year. I had to upgrade my plan because others were texting me so I decided to get on board. What kind of phone did you get? It looks like the same one that I have. You will enjoy the texting. I was not sure at first but like it now. You and I can text each other now. :) Kristin R.

  26. I don't know if my post went through or not, I got a really weird message....anyway. I like texting in certain circumstances, like when I don't have good reception, the texts usually still go through. Funny how your kids assumed your grandkids had used your phone. LOL!

  28. Granny!!!
The internet on my phone has helped me to keep up with all my bloggy friends since we've been on our trip whenever I don't have wifi. However, I can't make comments from it!

And as for texting~I love it; just don't have that many friends/relatives to text with!

Hopefully one of these days, I might have a blog entry!
