G1 and G2 raced a 100-lap Enduro race on Sunday afternoon. Their dad helped G2 get a car ready to race and AD helped G1 get one ready.
The car had to be gutted. With the exception of the front seat, the interior had to be free of anything that would burn.
It took a few weeks to get everything done.
Bars needed to be welded where the windshield had been.
Yesterday we rushed home after church to load the car up and go to the track.
Both boys were ready to race.
The drivers could take along a passenger (or two). G1 took his girlfriend
and G2's girlfriend rode with him.
Daughter counted laps for G2. I counted laps for G1.
G2's car didn't finish the race. G1 completed 98 laps in 33 minutes. He would have finished all 100 but he was a couple laps down when someone else took the checkered flag.
The weather was perfect and it was a fun time.
The cars need some work done to them. There's a 200-lap Enduro race coming up a few weeks.
Enduro racing looks fun. I hope you all have a great time.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteOh I so remember Saturday night at the races in Enid. It was quite a BIG event. I loved stock car races. This looks like so much fun. The grandsons look so happy and I think PaPa was having quite a bit of fun there also.
Thank you for sharing today. It brought back such wonderful memories for me. I love it when you share.
Have a wonderful day sweet friend. Many hugs and much love, Sherry
How fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd the girls got to ride, too. Yay!
I know they are excited about the coming race, too.
And here I thought the engine roars I heard were from the NASCAR race at Dover Downs yesterday! Hehe. I can only imagine how much fun this must be for those boys!
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun, but was it SAFE? I'd rather just sit in the stands and watch some other Granny's kids drive really fast in those cars! LOL
ReplyDeleteLiz
My youngest son has always wanted to do that but never had the money or the knowhow. His wife is quite thrifty if you know what I mean. G1 and G2 are handsome boys.
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks and sounds like fun, w/ a little nail biting involved. I'm glad it's something the whole family is getting involved in and enjoying. Get them cars ready for the BIG race.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun...my DH would just love it.
ReplyDelete"mash the pedal, margaret!!"
ReplyDelete"put the pedal to the metal!"
"go baby!!!!"
okay, i'm going to find my tiny bit of dignity and slink away. :)
Scary words..."anything that would burn"...but, looks like you had a great time..
ReplyDeleteEnjoy
It sure does look like your guys are having fun.
ReplyDeleteIt is great that they can do this. My guys were into that also and I was so nervous sitting there watching them, now my grandsons are working on a go cart.Heaven help us!!lol
Your post suddenly reminded me of Ascot Park, a a famous dirt racetrack located in Gardena (near Los Angeles) where I grew up. We never went to the races there, but we could certainly HEAR the races from our house... It was part of the weekend experience
ReplyDeleteNothing like the smell of oil and the sound of revving engines, what a fun day.
ReplyDeleteWell that sure looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteMy family was into little sprint car racing. Any kind of racing is a fun hobby but also a very expensive hobby.
ReplyDeleteThe boys should be very proud of themselves.
Have a good rest of your week.
Not sure if you've been over in awhile, but I just went to some drag races in Ennis, Texas this past weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI bet that was great!! And what fun for those girls to ride along! I can hear them screaming from here!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I used to go to races nearly every weekend. They were not this type. Glad you did not ride with them. Also, I missed your birthday party. Best wishes on your 60th (a mere child). Always glad to see you have stopped for a visit.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of such a thing. Looks like fun. Kind of a hard core sport.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun!
ReplyDeleteThe boys look so cute with their cars and girlfriends. Too cute!
