No Stars In My Eyes

There's been a buzz around my hometown for several weeks now. It seems lots of people have been "star gazing." Sometimes at night but sometimes during the day.

While I've been in town a few times, I've never seen the stars in question.

Today I got an email from a friend. She sent me a couple of pictures of one of the stars. Can you tell who it is?

Here's a better shot. That's right, it's Ben Affleck. He and his wife, Jennifer Garner, have been in town while Ben is filming a movie. This is BIG news for this town.

They've been spotted at one of the local cafes several times. Jennifer and their daughter were spotted in Walmart. A couple of weeks ago a friend of mind saw Ben filming at a local grocery store (he was in the shave cream aisle) at the same time AD and I were having dinner just down the road. Yesterday Ben was spotted between a local burger place and the county courthouse. That was when these 2 photos were taken.

One of the local news stations did a small story on Ben being over in Pioneer Woman's neck of the woods doing some filming there several days ago.

I'm not sure how much longer he'll be in town. I don't think wishing on a star would even improve my chances of spotting Ben or Jen!

However, I'll be interested in seeing the movie when it comes out. It will be kind of cool seeing my hometown on the big screen.

  1. What fun. I haven't seen many celebs in person but when I do I'm never sure it's REALLY them and just a lookalike. I did ride in an elevator once with Chuck Barris from "The Gong Show."

  2. The only celebrity I ever saw "in the wild" was Ed Begeley Jr, who came into a restaurant in Hollywood with his wife to eat dinner while we were there with some friends. I was seated so I was facing her -- and no sooner did they sit down then people descended on the table and she looked at me with this expression of "oh well, another night out ruined" I felt so sorry for her.

  3. Very cool! What is the name of the movie? I hope you run smack into them. Jennifer Garner seems like a pretty down to earth movie star. I think she is really cute and I would love to meet her. They have been filming a movie called "The Help" in a town about an hour from me. It has Sandra Bullock and Reese Witherspoon in it. Next week they are having a sale and selling all of the movie props - and they are vintage! So, I am hoping to get a few cool things from the movie to add to my shop :) -or maybe keep for myself :)

  4. So fun...many of the scenes from Runaway Bride with Richard Gere and Julia Roberts were filmed just up the road from our house and other parts of the movie were filmed in Berlin, MD on the Eastern Shore near Ocean City.

  5. Never seen a celebrity. Missed them, Casey Affleck and Kate Hudson, when they filmed that movie in Guthire, too. I think I would, no make that I would LOVE, to see Johnny Depp. Not likely they will do a Pirates movie in landlocked Oklahoma!

  6. How exciting! I will be sure to catch it when it comes out. Too bad they didn't use locals as extras. Then we'd all be spotting Oklahoma Granny on the big screen!

  7. This is so cool! It's very exciting when a movie is being filmed in your town...everyone, even non-movie buffs, gets excited. Oprah's movie Beloved was filmed in our town...soooooo disappointing when the movie came out. I sat through what seemed like hours of horrible film to get to the part that had our little street scenes! Funny. Hope your's is better! :)

  8. Lanyardlady - I doubt anyone would mistake someone else for Chuck Barris. We used to watch "The Gong Show" all the time. I guess that dates me. LOL

Angela - I haven't heard a name for the movie yet. Someone said Jennifer Garner is a tiny little thing. As soon as I finish reading "The Widow of the South" I plan to read "The Help." I would love to see either Sandra Bullock or Reese Witherspoon.

Pat - "Runaway Bride" is one of my favorite movies.

Ninny - I'm right with you. I would love to see Johnny Depp!

Deborah - They did a casting call for extras. I know some people that went to it but I haven't heard if any of them got a part. I don't imagine they did or I would surely have heard by now.

  9. Wow, Granny! Such excitement! I hope you get to run right into them before it's all over with! They seem like such a nice normal couple and not in the headlines; which I suppose explains itself right there!! By "Pioneer Woman" do you mean Ponca?

We are down at Branson now. Fishing is horrible and I'm under the weather but the "actual" weather is awesome!! Home 24th.

  10. Well girl, how cool is that??? We go to Branson every now and again and there's just no tellin' who ya might run into in line a Wally-World.

Ya'll have a marvelously blessed weekend hobnobbing it up with the stars. :o)

  11. Oh wow, what fun staying alert for a star.
I hope you run smack into them, face to face. And I hope you don't stumble your words like I would. LOL
I seen a few stars when I worked at Burlington Coat Factory in Charlotte, NC about 15 years ago. The Love Boat Captain, I can't remember his name, several wrestlers and Tammy Faye Baker, a couple of times.
Then I was introduced to T. Graham Brown by a few of his hunting buddies. That was fun. They are just everyday people who want to be treated that way.
Oh and a few Nascar drivers, too.
