The Nose Knows

Smoke has hip dysplasia. Our vet prescribed Glucosamine and Smoke has done well on it.
This is one of the big, brown pills he has to take everyday. The bottle says the pills are "tasty chewable tablets."

Smoke disagrees.

We've tried camouflaging the pills in cheese cubes, in large marshmallows and other types of treats. But Smoke's nose

KNOWS. And he turns up his nose.

So everyday cheerleaders are enlisted to help - Dani and

Elliott.

They all get a treat when Smoke takes his pill. Elliott and Dani are right there to make sure he does.

Would you call that doggie peer pressure?

  1. That is just too cute! I always wonder how they decide when things are "tasty", who tests them? Glad I don't have that job!

  4. This is just hilarious.........don't you feel rather, shall we say silly, running around the house begging the dog to take his pill. Believe me I have been there.......

  6. I have our labradoodle on MSM Glucosamine found at Walmart in the HUMAN section. It is a powder in a capsule. I sprinkle it on her moist food and she doesn't taste it. She's picky too.

With a little dog I'd do 1/4 to 1/2 capsule.

  7. Isn't that the sweetest thing? Just what brothers and sisters are for. We can usually get Sophie to take a pill if we stick it inside a piece of hot dog. Sometimes she outwits us even then and eats the hot dog, then coughs up the pill! Ewwww.

  8. My Yorkie takes the same thing but his problem was his knee would not stay in the socket. He had to have surgery for it when he was just 1 year old. He's now 10. I break his up in tiny pieces and put it in his dog food. He won't eat it alone.

  10. Love it! It's a challenge to get pills down our critters, isn't it? A little peer pressure can be a good thing.

  11. Peer pressure is not bad if it's for a good cause. Hmmm, do those two phrases really fit in the same sentence?!
