Determination and Frustration

Our 3 dogs seem to think this box that houses one of our hoses is also home to some kind of rodent.

The box is the first thing they check whenever they go in the back yard.

Two of them are pretty determined but if they can't flush anything out, they go on about their business.

The other one is determined to open the box and get inside to check. See the teeth marks that have been left on the top.

Smoke is the most determined. He just won't give it up. He's convinced there's something in the box besides the hose.

Tuesday night AD let the dogs out about 10pm to take care of any business they might have to do before we called it a night.

Smoke just would not come back in. I could hear him outside trying to find that intruder he just knew was hold up in the hose box.

He whined and he scratched and he dug. Finally AD had to go out, physically pick him up and bring him back inside.

He was filthy.

Which led to this - a late night, right before bed, bath.

And the bath led to this

this

this

and this.

I know Smoke still thinks there's something out there just taunting him. I can see it in his eyes.

He's thinking, "I'm going to catch that elusive invader and then we'll see who gets the last laugh!"

  6. Cathy - Oh, yes. The box has been opened and turned over so the kids could check it out. Elliott and Dani still check it out everyday but if they don't scare anything up, they go on about their day. Not Smoke - he just knows there's something in there.

  11. Dogs are so funny! I remember my poodle (from several years ago) would do the same thing on my bed after a bath. I thought it was cute. Then I got married and Sir wanted no animals in the house. However, Nushie (my poodle when I was single) was allowed to stay in the house until he had a natural demise at 15 yrs old.

  16. What a funny post!!!

I like how the dog always has to check on you when you're in the bathroom. No privacy!!!! Happens every time -- doesn't necessary come in but has to check!

    Cute pups!

  17. I just love your dogs. Terriers are known for getting fixated on things. Ours do. Perhaps there is a mole or snake (something underground not seen if you lift the box). You just reminded me that 'the boys' need a bath today...they've been 'helping' me garden.

    Have a wonderful weekend.
