I Knew I'd Forget Something!

I had a question with regard to my post yesterday about my homemade noodles.
Wouldn't you just know I'd leave something important out?!

After the noodles are cut they are left to dry at least overnight, sometimes even a few hours longer. They are ready to cook then or be frozen for future use.

After the ones I made the other day were all nice and dried, I put them into a freezer bag and popped those babies in the freezer.

Thursday morning they'll come out of the freezer just as soon as the chicken broth has come to a nice boil.  Then into the pot they'll go.

I can almost taste them now.

Note to Driller: I've often said that if we had to limit our Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner  to just the bare essentials, our family would unanimously choose to have chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes and homemade hot rolls. Everyone in the family, with the exception of myself, tops their mashed potatoes with their chicken and noodles.

  3. We are a bunch of Okies and we eat our noodles on top of mashed potatoes too. Maybe it is an Okie thing :)
I like goulash on top of mashed potatoes too, so many carbs but all delicious.

  4. The recipe was wonderful and I want to thank you for clarifying the instructions. This is my first visit to your blog, so I took some time to browse through your earlier posts. You've created a great spot for your readers to visit and I really enjoyed the time I spent here. I'll definitely be back. Have a wonderful day. Blessings...Mary

  5. My MIL does the same thing with her noodles. I totally agree on your minimum Thanksgiving dinner. The older I get, the less I can eat, the more I concentrate on just what I want. No casseroles, dressing, or excessively rich stuff.

  7. Reminds me of the Amish resturant we went to once in Mazie. They served chicken and noodles with the roast beef we had for dinner. They were yummy.

  8. When we kept chickens, I used to make homemade noodles all the time -- even had a machine to roll the dough and cut the noodles. He strung a clothesline across the living room so I could hang the noodles to dry. We gave up the chickens, the machine went into the barn (and wrens built nests in it) and now for some strange reason I am very hungry for homemade noodles

  9. Oh the memories you brought back for me when Mother made homemade noodles. We nibbled on the dough, hung them on the clothes rakc to dry overnight. Yum!

    Have a beautiful weekend.
    TTFN ~
