Black Friday Shopping

Were you among the shoppers on Black Friday? Did you find what you were looking for? I hope so.

AD and I ventured out but much later than many folks. We found most of the things we went after and missed a few too. That's ok though because the stores got more than their fair share of our hard earned dollars.

The first place we stopped was Staples for a couple of things we needed for our own use. AD zipped in and out of there in no time. The next stop was our local mall. It's a small mall and we were happily surprised that it wasn't all that busy. AD wanted to go to Sears and I had to return a gift I'd already purchased a couple of weeks ago. UGH!

Those who know me well know that I HATE returning things. I will do most anything to keep from returning merchandise. But there was no way around it this time. And I have to say, the folks at American Eagle really made it easy on me. I can't tell you how much I appreciated the two clerks that helped me. I was able to exchange the item I was returning for something that is sure to make someone very happy. And I was in and out in a flash. Seriously! On Black Friday of all days.

Then we were off to Tulsa. Our timing couldn't have been more perfect. The first huge wave of shoppers were probably home taking naps by then. There was some traffic but not nearly as bad as we'd expected.

I was periodically checking my email as we made our way from store to store. When I read one from Best Buy that said they had iPads on sale I remembered AD's youngest sister mentioning on Thanksgiving that she was looking for one but there weren't any in the newspaper sale ads that she'd seen. I told AD in case he wanted to pass that information along.

Well, guess what?! The next thing I know we're headed to Best Buy. AD let the iPad out of the bag so to speak. He told me Santa was planning to bring me one for Christmas. So that jolly old elf caved in and gave me have my gift early. Santa can expect extra special cookies left out for him this year!

Oh, and that kaleidoscope picture of AD at the top of this post - I've already been playing with my iPad.

  1. Oh lucky you. Got some shopping done and a gift early!! HOORAY!

  2. Sounds like you had a great day of shopping! Happy gift wrapping!

Mom - You can buy Dad a Motorhome for Christmas. I know he really wants one! And I bet he wouldnt care if it came early :o)

  4. "Santa" visited me early and brought a Kindle Fire - a very fun little toy

we did just a little Friday shopping, and later in the day like you. The only thing I wanted to buy was the $5 hot wheels sets and Walmart had oodles of them left at noon.

Enjoy your Ipad. My mom loves hers.

  5. I did not venture out. I like my sleep to much after a busy day of company and lots of food.
Glad to hear that you did not get into a lot of shoppers there.

  6. Wow - Merry Christmas to you! You'll love it. I stayed out of the stores. I hate crowds, especially when they're armed with pepper spray!

  7. To may daughter - you are too funny!

Rhonda, Enjoy your Kindle Fire! I have the original Kindle and love it.

  8. That is one day I never go to the malls for anything. It is just now worth it. In a few days you will find most of the items just as cheap or cheaper.

  9. It doesn't matter when you recieve your Christmas giff as long as you get one. LOL

  10. Well, I have major ipad envy right now. I hope that you enjoy it.

I stayed home. Couldn't handle the madness. I'm glad you didn't run into any ugliness! The city had some terrible tales to tell I'm afraid!

  12. yay for you! what a nice santa :)

    mountain mama

  13. Ohh, I want one too! I stayed in for Black Friday- glad I missed the craziness.

  14. Oh Sweetie...
Yes I would say you have been very good this year. How wonderful to receive that iPad and early at that. I love it. Love the kaleidoscope photo as well.

DH and I ventured out Thanksgiving evening for a few bargains at Wal-Mart. Oh dear what a mad house it was. I was so thankful DH went along with. I wouldn't have been able to fight off the folks that moved in at the last. SO many, many people out. We got all of the things we went in for, and (4) extra. Grandkids are going to be so happy this year. Yes they are.

Hope you have a great week sweet friend. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  15. Sounds like you hit it just right.
Don't ya love it when that happens?!
    Have fun with that iPad!!!

  16. I love a great bargain a well as anyone else and it sure sounded like ya'll were in the right place at the right time.! Congratulations!

Me...I shut myself in on Black Friday. See, I wasn't born with the shoppin' gene or a love of crowds. I hit the computer and .com my grandkiddos gift. I get the same or even better bargains if I use my noggin'.

God bless ya and have a magnificent weekend!!! :o)

  17. I've gotten to the point where I don't like to go into stores during a 'normal' weekday during the least busiest time; with the exception of privately owned shops. I do most of my shopping on-line.
You will love the ipad! We've added them to Thomas' 'bushel of Apples". :)

    Your Friend,

  18. I never venture out on Black Friday.
