Who's the Fairest of Them All?

We went to see Mirror, Mirror on Sunday afternoon. There were LOTS of kids in the theater. Some of them were fairly young too.

I know AD wasn't that thrilled about going but I think he's feeling a little guilty because racing season is upon us and we'll be spending a great deal of time on the road this year. G1 is going to race in the NCRA Southern Sport Mod series this year. G2 will be racing a Factory Stock at the track in Salina, Oklahoma for the most part. But that's another blog post for another day.

Julia Roberts did a wonderful job playing the wicked queen/stepmother to Snow White and I did enjoy the movie. The dwarves weren't exactly what I expected but they were certainly an interesting group of guys. Prince Charming was easy on the eyes but I'm not sure he was quite up to standard as princes go (the character, not the actor).

I keep thinking about those younger kids that were in the audience. I'm hoping they didn't have nightmares Sunday night. There were a few scenes that, in my opinion, were pretty scary for smaller kids. At least they would have been for me at that age. (Flashback to 20,0000 Leagues Under the Sea when the squid attacks the Nautilus! Also another story for another time.) And I remember hearing that Julia Roberts commented her own children wouldn't be seeing Mirror, Mirror anytime soon.

So that's one movie crossed off my "to see" list.

  2. So I shouldn't take my 4 yo granddaughter? She'll be 5 in a few weeks. Was this movie intended for children?
It must be so exciting being on the road and getting to see G1 and G2 racing. I must admit though, I'd be a little nervous... as I said before, I always did enjoy the sport, but it is sometimes a nail biter.. lol.

  3. I hope the kids weren't scared either. Some of the things on TV and in the movies these days seem too intense for me, much less young ones. Glad you got to strike one off your list before racing season starts.

  4. I have not seen it but I really do wish parents would not just let their kids see movies without researching it first. That being said, my co-worker took her daughter with her when she and her boyfriend saw "Final Destination" (can't remember what number) because she didn't have a babysitter. When she told me that, all I could do was stare at her!!
My little niece was dying to go see "Hunger Games" with Aubrey and I but I wanted to see it first. After watching it, I thought it was unfit for a 10 year old and told her mom that I didn't think she should see it (though I KNOW a ton of people would disagree on this one)

  5. Bobbi, I personally wouldn't take her. Our granddaughter turned 5 last October and I told my son I wouldn't take her. The new Madagascar movie looks cute though.

Angela, I know exactly what you mean. My son said there were a lot of kids in the theater when he saw the Hunger Games in Oklahoma City. I don't know what parents are thinking these days! I didn't notice any kids in the theater when we went to see it though.

  7. We haven't been to a movie for a long time. Was thinking of taking the grandson to the new 3D releases of several Disney movies but didn't know if he would sit through them. It is amazing what some parents let their small children see.

  8. It's on our list.

I'm always amazed at the movies that people will take their children to. I'm no prude but some things are appropriate for a child to see and other things are not. They got their whole lives to lose their innocence.

  9. Hi Granny! I've got list of movies to see, too, and anything with Johnny Depp is on that list, haha! I got Tootie's dog food at thehonestkitchen.com. First I ordered a sampler box just to see if she'd eat the darn stuff, and she gobbled it up like it was a chocolate fudge sundae! So, I bought a four pound box, and at $47 that was high, but it makes 16 pounds of food when hydrated. It's dehydrated veggies and meats. You can check out their website to see whats all in it. She loves the treats, too. Anyway, your sweet little doggies might like it. Tootie is doing well on it, no digestive problems. Hope you are enjoying this beautiful spring. Happy Easter!

  11. I'm glad you posted this because I was considering taking our little Arianna to see this. She is 3 and at the age where she loves everything princess!
Hope all is well in your world.
